APPROACHES TO PSYCHOLOGY

 


 

 

BIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE

 

The focus of this perspective is the interaction between the physiological and psychological factors that contribute to behavior.

 

COGNITIVE PERSPECTIVE

 

Cognitive psychology is concerned with how people acquire, store, transform, use, and communicate information.

Cognitive processes include:  memory, language acquisition, attention, and problem solving. 

 

LEARNING PERSPECTIVE

 
Learning can be regarded as hypothetical construct- a process that cannot be directly observed, but that can be inferred from observable behavior.

SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY

 

Social psychology is the study of behavior and experience with respect to social stimuli.  Social psychologists are particularly interested in the changes that occur in a person's behavior when other people are present.  Topics to be studied in this area include:
