Required Outside Reading
The following books are assigned for reading for Firestone High School’s Advanced Placement American History Class:
Founding Brothers- by Joseph Ellis
This book is to be read over the summer. There will be a quiz and assignment at the beginning of the school year that relate to the book.
The Jungle- by Upton Sinclair
This book will be assigned for reading in the Fall after classes have begun for the school year. It may be wise to get a copy over the summer but we will be reading it online. There will be a link provided in class. If you do not have Internet access at home you should purchase the book. The Jungle Internet Link
Having Our Say- by Amy Hill Hearth/Delany Sisters
This book will assigned for reading in the Spring during Second Semester. It is the story of the Delaney sisters, two prominent African American women who lived to be over 100 years old. It may be wise to get a copy of this book over the summer.
